MVS to UNIX Sort Converter

The MVS to UNIX Sort Converter automatically converts MVS sort jobsteps written in JCL to SyncSort applications written as UNIX shell scripts.

General processing

Conversion is a two-step process: (1) Move an MVS JCL jobstream to UNIX; (2) Run the JCL through the Converter. Sort applications are ready to execute under UNIX immediately after conversion.

The Converter can process any MVS mainframe JCL sort, and will process the basic JCL file and SYSIN, $ORTPARM, and DFSPARM-associated files, if they are present.

The Converter handles multiple jobsteps without any additional processing, and generates either ASCII or EBCDIC collating sequence sorts.
