Disaster Recovery
BEX Instant Availability
provides rapid access to data and applications stored on BEX Advanced Servers or SnapVault secondary systems. Instant Availability eliminates the need for data transfer and provides immediate access to any data on the destination host, including Exchange, SQL Server, and Oracle. Once Instant Availability is activated, destination storage volumes appear as local, fully accessible (read/write) drives. Files on the destination disk are transparently available to users. Users can easily copy from an Instant Availability drive to a drive on the local node. Instant Availability is supported for many versions of Windows, Linux, and Solaris.
BEX Instant Virtualization ™ and BEX Full Virtualization
enable you to create a virtual machine in ESX/ESXi from any recovery point on any Windows physical or virtual backed up instance. Backup Express employs two distinct types of virtualization: full virtualization and BEX Instant Virtualization. Full virtualization creates a virtual machine in ESX/ESXi that contains a clone of the backed up server. If the backed up server is physical, full virtualization performs a physical-to-virtual (P2V) operation. BEX Instant Virtualization creates a virtual machine in ESX/ESXI without restoring data from the selected recovery point. This operation does not physically transfer data to the virtual machine and thus makes it possible to complete a disaster recovery operation of a physical or virtual server in minutes, without recovery storage requirements.
BEX Bare Metal Recovery
provides high performance, disk-based, bare metal disaster recovery capability using BEX Advanced Recovery backups. BEX Bare Metal Recovery streamlines the recovery process, significantly reducing downtime when a root volume or operating system is inoperable. Depending on recovery needs, BEX Bare Metal Recovery can restore the operating system, system settings, partition information, applications, and data — all in a fraction of the time required by manual methods.
BEX Replication
provides the ability to replicate snapshots from one BEX Advanced Server to another on a scheduled basis. This additional disk-based protection can be included in a disaster recovery site and remote office data protection strategies.
