Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, June 16, 2004 – Syncsort Incorporated is pleased to announce that the Center for Assistive Technology and Environmental Access (CATEA), a research center at the Georgia Institute of Technology's College of Architecture, has found a successful data protection solution in Backup Express, the enterprise backup and restore product from Syncsort Incorporated.
Ian Simmons, System Administrator for CATEA, was responsible for evaluating backup software for the center, and implementing the selected solution, a critical job. "We're a federal clearing house for all the government information on the American Disabilities Act (ADA), disseminating compliance information to small businesses. We have to be up 24x7 or we could lose millions in funding – so backup is essential for us," he explains. "We needed a solution that could back up Linux files over a fibre channel SAN with a Windows master server, and Backup Express is the only product we found that would do that. ARCserve couldn't do it over the FC SAN, and we back up too much data to accomplish the task over Ethernet. There are other backup programs on campus, and in my opinion, none work as well as Backup Express. Backup Express is a very powerful piece of software, with excellent performance and it reliably backs up my data.
