Disk-to-Disk
BEX Advanced Recovery provides high-performance, low-impact, image-based backups to disk based storage and provides fast, reliable file, folder, database, image, and site recovery.
BEX Zero-Impact Backup with Data Reduction
BEX intelligently tracks changed blocks below the file system, so there is no impact on application performance. Stated differently, no strain is placed on the backup clients or the applications, open files are not an issue, and the file system is not impacted. Moreover, BEX zero-impact backups are application and operating system aware so, at recovery, the system is application and OS consistent. With BEX Zero-Impact Backup with Data Reduction, only blocks that have changed since the last backup are transferred to the backup destination. This significantly accelerates the backup process and reduces network bandwidth requirements because the amount of data is so small. This data reduction also has great storage benefits that deliver significant savings.
BEX Multi-Purpose Recovery Snapshots
Recovery snapshots on the backup destination enable fast point-in-time recovery and reduce disk storage space. All recovery points on the backup destination disks are full backups reconstituted from a baseline backup and subsequent incremental updates. Snapshots appear as full backup images on your destination disks, yet use a bare minimum of storage space. In addition, these snapshots are mountable and read/writable, maximizing data availability.
BEX Archive
The BEX Archive provides seamless additional backup from a disk-based BEX Advanced Server to tape. If the data hosted on the BEX Advanced Recovery is unavailable for any reason during recovery operations, a BEX restore job automatically proceeds with recovery from tape to the original or any other restore destination. Backup schedule, backup definition and retention settings specific to BEX Archive backups are supported.
