Data transformation is the second phase of the ETL (extract, transform, and load) process. It applies a series of rules or functions to the extracted data before it is loaded or passed on for downstream processing. Forms of data transformation include joins, sorts, aggregations or summarizations, filters, partitioning, reformats, conditional processing, calculations, and data conversions.
DMExpress™ is the fastest, most reliable, and cost efficient enterprise data integration software.* It speeds applications and delivers information to business users when they need it. The DMExpress data transformation model is based on an easy-to-define paradigm. It performs source, record, and field level data transformation operations directly from the desktop on any UNIX, Linux, or Windows server. Data transformation jobs can be scheduled for later execution, embedded in batch scripts, or invoked from third-party applications.
The separately licensable ADM (Advanced Data Management) component, which includes High Performance Join and Aggregation, also provides powerful data transformation capabilities such as arithmetic functions, string functions, date/time functions, and user-defined values.
Demonstrated Savings: National financial services provider cuts monthly financial data mart load time by 44% with DMExpress.
