Position: Data Integration Professional Services Engineer
Position summary: Position provides deep, technical guidance, support and training to data integration customers and field sales engineers in extreme performance data integration environments

Overall Responsibility
With supervision, convert written and verbal requirements and design specifications into executable software testing plans. Follow templates and standards to produce usable and value-added software documentation. Mentor with seniors to become subject expert in designated functional areas of software testing and quality assurance. Communicate in timely and concise manner with team both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities include:

• Providing consulting and training services, as well as pre- and post-sale support, to Syncsort’s Data Integration customers and prospects
• Guiding design and assisting implementation in data integration projects implementing DMExpress in a variety of different architectures
• Analyzing varied data integration architectures for performance bottlenecks and making recommendations to alleviate those bottlenecks.
• Provide SME expertise to improve training curriculum and content as well as assist in refreshing training materials for company’s DMExpress product.
• Providing deep, technical guidance, opportunity analysis, research and proof of concept implementation support to data integration field sales engineers
• Guiding and assisting with product benchmarking for proof of concept opportunities, competitive analysis and partnering opportunities which includes designing, guiding and potentially administering benchmarking system architecture

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or other related technology disciplines. (Candidates with other degrees will be considered if they are able to demonstrate sufficient technical proficiency and expertise.)
• Broad experience (2-5 years) with data integration technologies, like Informatica, DataStage and Ab Initio
• Thorough understanding of data warehousing, data integration and business intelligence concepts and environments
• Experience with multiple DBMS technologies. Examples include:
  • Oracle
  • SQL Server
  • DB2
  • Teradata
  • Netezza
  • Vertica
• Experience with programming or analysis in multiple of the following technologies:
• SQL
• C
• C++
• Cobol
• Experience with mainframe systems, coding and data processing is a plus

Job Requirements

• Strong problems solving skills
• Excellent customer service skills as well as verbal and written communications skills
• Resourcefulness and self-driven initiative to learn new technologies
• An interest in traveling 50% of the time, with rare peaks up to 80%, mostly in North America and occasionally internationally
• Prior experience in customer facing roles, preferably professional services or technical sales engineering
